Almost 18 months.

That is how long we made it without an ear infection. I never quite understood a parent’s woes regarding their child’s ear ailment until now.

Avery and I have been sick all week… Avery seemingly more so than I, just because at 17.5 months you just cannot expect a child to understand the nuances regarding the simple remedies for colds. Instead it is a full battle with mom and dad regarding anything they try to help with.

But normally Avery is agreeable and easy-going – even when sickness brings her down. Then yesterday the inconsolable screaming started and Colleen and I made a quick decision to get Avery to the doctor. We are eternally thankful that we did.

The little one had picked up an ear infection – ick! Now, between the Amoxicillin, the Motrin, the Tylenol, the Triaminic, and the ear numbing drops, hopefully we can defeat this monster and get our kid back.
