We have been in the process of landscaping and building a new patio in our backyard over the past week. During this time there has been quite a bit of gravel being piled up and packed down as a foundation in order to get ready to lay the flagstone. With the new landscaping and patio, we have made changes to our backyard that make it much more kid friendly. Namely, no more exposed power box, or sink-holes from settling dirt and the like. Now we actually have usable space and no more mud!
So naturally, we have been spending a lot of time outside with Avery, but she has taken a liking to the gravel pile and incessantly swings her arms beating the rocks, spreading the gravel out in all directions. Of course that is a no-no. So, today when we were out in front of the house it was a welcomed relief… except that the she went ahead and found the tiniest of gravel areas to play with – you know how kids just find those. No big deal… those pebbles were not strategically placed in order to build a patio – let her do whatever she wants with them.
Or maybe it should have been a big deal as Avery proceded to lay down on her stomach and lick the pile of rocks and dirt. Tasty.
