With Colleen at class this evening, Avery and I took to the front yard for our normal ritual of playing in the grass. A game that Avery loves. Our fun was stopped short when the extremely energetic neighbor’s dog threatened to lick Avery to death. Never fear, dad was here and I swooped her up to safety.

But, there was still an issue of the neighbor’s dog, so Avery and I went next door to let them know. What was just a courtesy call to let them know about their dog, turned into an hour and a half of Avery playing with the neighbors. She had a ball… you know – sort of like grandparents, but no relation to her. They let her play with dominos, make extreme amounts of noise, hit large spoons on pots and pans, and do snow angels in newspapers.

More excitement than I could handle, but certainly not more than Avery could handle. She had a ball. Plus, she got to stay up well past her normal bedtime, and that is always a bonus. Not too mention that I was able to get a little bit of time off.
