I was always excited about having a child and being a father, but I really never knew how great it would be. I dream all throughout the day about the moment that I can head home from work and play with Avery. Sure, I won’t lie, it was pretty boring to come home to a child that didn’t do much and really only cared about her mother.

Now, though, that has all changed. I could spend hours playing with her and not get bored. It is worth every penny in the bank for making her laugh, walking in the grass, and chasing her around the basement.

Basically, being a dad is great… as if all you dads didn’t know that already.

I remember when my kids started sitting up, started moving around. That was when it began for me, when I felt like I could relate to them, could interact with them, could do more than just hold them and try not to fall asleep. It only gets better from here. And more exhausting. But better.
