Colleen and I had it all planned. We had the babysitter, we had a restaurant in mind, and we had a list of movies we could see. All but the babysitter turned out to be worthless.
We left the house around 6:30 for our first night out for just the two of us. About halfway to the restaurant we realized that we had left our cell phones at home, so we turned around and headed home. Now, armed with our cell phones we headed back out. First to Johnny Carino’s, where without a reservation we had a 90 minute wait… not happening. Then we tried Granite City Brewing Company… same thing. Maybe we should have made reservations? We tried Texas Roadhouse… over an hour, but Colleen still put our name in.
The wait was on. We had appetizers and drinks waiting for our name to be called. 30 minutes, 45, an hour, an hour and 15 minutes, an hour 30… finally. As we sat down at our table we realized that we were exhausted. There was no way that we would make it another 30 minutes, let alone another three hours to get through an entire movie… We did not even know what the movie was about.
So, we decided to be lame. We came home and paid the babysitter and went right to bed. Night out at dinner and early to bed. It may have been the best date we ever had.
