This did not surprise me in the slightest – except that I’d expect this story to come out of Wyandotte County, Kansas. On Monday, Colleen and I were watching the news only to hear about this couple that had given birth to sextuplets "out of the blue". According to residents of the Grain Valley, this was quite a surprise, as normally every knows everyone else’s business in this small town.

Initial reports that Sarah Everson had given birth to sextuplets raised eyebrows and doubts across eastern Jackson County. On a web site and in a newspaper interview, Sarah Everson said that she and her husband had become the parents of the six babies in early March. The web site named four boys and two girls who purportedly were born to her.

The web site, which was launched Monday and shut down a day later, did not say where the children were delivered, where they were later or what their conditions were. But it did solicit donations of cash and other things, including a better house, a better vehicle, a washer and dryer, and prepaid cell phone cards.

Turns out that it was just a large scam. This couple was hoping to cash in on the rarity of sextuplets… a 4 billion to one chance. An elaborate scam it was as even officials quoted in the newspaper and tv had not even seen the "children". It is odd what some people will do to scam a quick dollar… personally, I wouldn’t want six kids at once. I’d rather be poor.
