Today marked our first day without TIVO, the product Colleen and I know and love – you could almost say that since we got our first one in mid-2000, that TIVO was a religion in our home. Why have we moved on?
Well, the high-definition television we purchased over a year ago was starting to become agitated that it was not able to display television to its full potential. That, coupled with the fact that our DirecTV rates are constantly rising, the $200 requirement for a high definition box that would be outdated in a few months, the $12 per month charge for HD channels, the 2 year contract we would be forced to enter with DirecTV, and the fact that Time Warner Cable offered us a deal that would save us nearly $60 per month.
All that and the fact that we are in essence upgrading our services when we were offered a high definition DVR, HBO, Showtime, and the premium HD channels. All that and we save money? Sold.
So, we have loved you TIVO, you will still be with us on the TV in the bedroom, but you will not be used daily. Please, no hard feelings?
