Thanksgiving. Another year, another couple of turkeys in our bellies. This year, though, was different from past years. That difference? Kids.
With my sister and her family in town, we not only had Avery, but now we had two more. That was not the problem. Give those two some food, toys, and a movie, and you do not have any worries. Avery, on the other hand, showed why she is 3 and 1/2 months old. She is a baby and she kept our hands full the whole night.
She missed out on a nap or two during the afternoon and had quite a bit of trouble sleeping around her bedtime, so Colleen and I played tag-team the whole evening. We switched between, smoked turkey, sweet potatoes, rolls, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and the baby.
Colleen spent a while trying to get Avery to sleep and took over when that failed after 20 minutes. I spent the rest of the evening sitting in a chair in a dark bedroom with a sleeping baby. I guess this is what they mean when they say your life changes.
More about our Thanksgiving to come.
